The Lahore High Court (LHC) is hearing set of petitions regarding Lahore’s Model Town incident as judgment in this regard is also expected today.
The LHC in its today’s proceeding, declared non-maintainable a petition seeking implementation of sessions court’s orders regarding registration of FIR against 21 people, including PM Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif over Lahore’s Model Town incident.
In its ruling the LHC said that the application is non-maintainable and could not be taken up on the grounds that the applicant is not an aggrieved party himself.
In his application, the petitioner said that FIR is not being lodged despite implementation of sessions court’s Aug 16 orders in which it directed police to frame murder charges against Sharif brothers and 19 others over violence.
The Model Town clash between police and workers of Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) left at least 14 of Qadri’s supporters dead in June.
