Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has vacated Dhaka’s capital and is relocating to a more secure location due to safety concerns.
A source close to the embattled leader reported, “The Prime Minister, along with her sister, has moved out of Ganabhaban, her official residence, to a safer place.” Plans for Sheikh Hasina to address the nation were thwarted as she faced difficulties recording her speech amidst the ongoing turmoil.
This significant move comes at a critical time when Bangladesh’s army chief, Waker-Uz-Zaman, is preparing to address the nation following a series of deadly clashes.
The confrontations yesterday were particularly severe, resulting in 98 deaths—the highest single-day toll in the weeks of anti-government protests. Since the unrest began last month, the cumulative death toll has exceeded 300, highlighting the intensifying crisis in the nation.
