Apple Smart Glasses Delayed To Late 2027, Gurman Says

Apple smart glasses have been delayed to late 2027 as the company works through development hurdles, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported.

The glasses were expected to launch in late 2026 and begin shipping in early 2027. However, the project has now been pushed back despite remaining a top priority for Apple leadership.

The product is expected to cost between $200 and $500. That would position it as an everyday wearable accessory rather than a premium luxury device.

Apple is reportedly developing the glasses as a rival to products such as Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses.

Expected features include oval-shaped cameras for photos and video, along with microphones and speakers for voice recording, calls and Siri requests.

The glasses are also expected to use multimodal artificial intelligence to support user requests through Siri.

Apple may offer several frame styles, including large rectangular, oval and circular designs. The company is also expected to introduce distinctive colour options.

Apple plans to evolve the glasses over time from a smart accessory into a product with augmented reality features.

John Ternus has reportedly led the product’s development for the past two years. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook also supports the project, according to the report.

How Apple Smart Glasses Compare To Google And Meta

Apple’s smart glasses will enter a market that is already taking shape. By the time Apple’s expected 2027 launch rolls around, Apple will likely face a tougher field, led by Google’s Gemini-powered glasses and Meta’s established Ray-Ban smart glasses.
