The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has warned applicants against individuals posing as authorised degree attestation agents, urging them to protect their personal information and use its official online system.
In its public advisory, HEC cautioned that people offering to arrange attestation could expose applicants to fraud and misuse of their academic records.
Applicants should not hand personal information, educational documents or academic records to unauthorised individuals. Instead, the commission advises them to manage their applications themselves and follow the instructions on its website. HEC’s current degree attestation system operates entirely online.
Applicants can submit requests from home without visiting an HEC office or sending original documents in hard copy. They must create an account or sign in to the official e-services portal, select degree attestation and complete the required information.
After submission, HEC scrutinises the application and sends it to the relevant university for verification. It then conducts a final review and, where the application meets its requirements, issues an electronic attestation certificate. Applicants can download the certificate from their online account.

In a separate fraud alert, HEC warns that imposters also use fake websites and telephone calls to seek payments, passwords, verification codes and financial information.
The commission says it does not make unsolicited calls requesting payments or personal information for attestation or verification services.
Applicants who need assistance can consult HEC’s online instructions or submit a query through its official helpdesk.
HEC lists its support numbers as 051-111-119-432 and 0334-1119432.
