Altaf Hussain the MQM’s supreme leader claimed that the New York Times story about the fake degree scandal involving Pakistan-based IT firm Axact “has given him the shock of his life”.
“Mind-blowing! if these allegations are true then this firm is guilty of treason against Pakistan,” a concerned Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) boss said in statement released from London, where he lives in exile since 1992.
Hussain wants these allegations investigated in-depth.
“If proven, then all the executive level officers of the shady company should be copped, tried under Article 6, and be dealt the toughest as well as an exemplary punishment,” Hussain demanded.
The MQM leader, also called on the government to slap a travel ban on the Axact bosses.
“There names should be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL),” Altaf Hussain demanded adding, “It is as much a moment of concern as it is shocking that a company was running a fraudulent operation of epic proportions under the nose of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.”
Axact has issued blanket denials against all charges leveled against it.
