Linkin Park, the renowned 90s rock band, announced its return during a live-stream event on Thursday. The band disclosed its plans for a world tour and a new studio album set to release this autumn, marking its first major project since the tragic death of Chester Bennington in 2017.
Emily Armstrong, formerly of Dead Sara, will join co-lead vocalist Mike Shinoda. Original members Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, and bassist Phoenix are also returning. Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer, will replace Rob Bourdon as the new drummer.
Their comeback is highlighted by the release of their eighth studio album, “From Zero,” scheduled for November 15. The lead single, “The Emptiness Machine,” is already out.
The band expressed gratitude and excitement in an emotional Instagram post: “This journey, filled with unexpected twists and turns, comes to life through our shared vision. Our progress is fueled by belief in the possible, listening during emotional moments, and our community’s unwavering support and love. Thank you.”
Since their debut, Linkin Park has sold over 100 million records globally, making them one of the best-selling bands of the 21st century. Despite announcing an indefinite hiatus 2017 following Bennington’s death, the group found new chemistry with Armstrong and Brittain, prompting this revival.
The tour will commence on September 11 at Inglewood’s Kia Forum, with stops planned in New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota.
