The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s petitions against an election tribunal’s order of recounting of votes in NA-122, the constituency won by him in 2013 general elections against PTI chief Imran Khan.
The Speaker had filed two constitutional petitions in the LHC challenging election tribunal’s decision and accusing the tribunal judge of committing contempt of court.
Last week, the tribunal had accepted Imran Khan’s request and ordered inspection of ballot bags to investigate allegations of rigging in NA-122.
The LHC, which admitted Sadiq’s petitions for hearing yesterday, conducted an initial hearing of the case and later rejected the appeals today.
