Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (BBZ) advised telling neighboring countries that the outlawed TTP is a “red line” for Pakistan.
On Tuesday evening at the Atlantic Council, Washington, BBZ said, “As far as the TTP (Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan) is concerned, it’s our red line. It is something that we will not tolerate. And absolutely, we will be willing to consider every single option to ensure the safety and security of our people.”
Bhutto Zardari urged foreign powers to engage with Afghanistan’s de facto government to stabilize the region. When moderator Uzair Younus asked if Pakistan might deploy forces inside Afghanistan or on the border to stop militant strikes, BBZ proposed utilizing the “hammer and anvil” technique with Kabul’s support to destroy militancy.
Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Munir Akram told the UN Security Council in New York that engaging the Taliban was the best way to stabilize the region.
