Taylor Swift will not attend the 2026 American Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 25 despite leading the nominees with eight nominations, E! News reported.
PEOPLE also confirmed Swift’s absence from the 52nd American Music Awards. The singer-songwriter is nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Female Pop Artist, among other categories.
Her 2025 album “The Life of a Showgirl” earned nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album. Its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia”, received nods for Song of the Year, Best Pop Song and Best Music Video, according to the American Music Awards nomination list.
Swift already holds the American Music Awards record with 40 career wins. If she wins all eight categories this year, she would tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most wins in a single AMAs ceremony, according to PEOPLE.
