Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to advocates in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces including the Attorney General for delay in local government elections on Friday.
During the case hearing Adovate General Sindh apologized for the delay in the local party elections and said that the draft for delimitations would be issued within one week.
Justice Azmat responded by saying that the three provinces have made no preparations for the local party elections and have in turn disregarded the Constitution of Pakistan.
He also remarked that the provinces instead of taking action for elections are making excuses. Expressing anger over the delay, he said that none of the court orders have been followed and asked if the Supreme Court should be moved to the provincial offices.
Justice Nasirul Mulk also expressed his displeasure over the delay and asked if no preparations have been made by the provincial governments then how would the elections be held before November 15.
The court issued notices to the advocates of Punjab, Sindh and KPK including the Attorney General ordering them to provide details in court in the next hearing regarding the election delay after consulting the provincial governments in their respective provinces. The case hearing was adjourned until October 14.
