Sami Zayn became Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time after beating Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a Triple Threat main event at WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh.
The match took place at Kingdom Arena and featured repeated momentum swings, table spots and broken pin attempts.
Rhodes appeared to take control midway through the match when he drove Zayn through an announce table.

Gunther then caught Rhodes and slammed him through a second announce table, shifting the match again.
Zayn later hit Gunther with a Helluva Kick and appeared close to victory. Rhodes stopped the count by pulling the referee out of the ring before the pinfall was completed.

Rhodes entered WWE Night of Champions as champion but lost the title in a Triple Threat match. In that format, the defending champion can lose without being pinned or submitted.
The result ended weeks of tension between Rhodes and Zayn. It also stopped Gunther’s latest push for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
