LOS ANGELES: Actor Rebecca Romijn performed Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” in Klingon for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.”
Paramount+ released the season-four episode, “Human Best Friend,” Thursday, August 6. Romijn told CinemaBlend that learning the Klingon performance became her hardest assignment that season.
She said a dialect coach helped her master the translation and correct pronunciation. CinemaBlend said Romijn performed the translated song herself without dubbing.
Romijn plays Una Chin-Riley, also known as Number One, in the Paramount+ science-fiction series. Paramount+ describes the 47-minute episode as a visit to a shore-leave planet with an inebriating atmosphere.
Starfleet recalls the crew early, forcing feuding officers Scotty and Ortegas to locate their missing shuttle. The story uses “Hangover”-style memory gaps, bingo, facial tattoos and Klingon karaoke to reconstruct the crew’s lost night.

Martin Quinn plays Scotty, while Melissa Navia portrays Enterprise pilot Erica Ortegas. Meanwhile, actor Dave Foley guest-stars as the resort’s maître d’.
A Space.com feature linked the episode with the franchise’s recurring disastrous-vacation stories. “The Original Series” previously turned “Shore Leave” into an encounter with dangerous creations from the crew’s thoughts.
Later, Jean-Luc Picard’s holiday became an archaeological pursuit in “The Next Generation” episode “Captain’s Holiday.”

CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment produce “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” Anson Mount leads the cast as Captain Christopher Pike, alongside Romijn and Spock actor Ethan Peck.
Paramount said season four contains 10 episodes, with weekly Thursday releases continuing through September 24.
