Actor Brad Pitt called Uber, his German Shepherd co-star in “Heart of the Beast,” the film’s star as he discussed their work together in a new behind-the-scenes featurette.
In the featurette published by People on August 6, Pitt described Uber as “number one on the call sheet” and said the dog plays the most important role in the story alongside his character, James Belmont.
Pitt said filming with Uber required flexibility because scenes often followed the dog’s natural responses rather than a rigid performance. He described working with his canine co-star as a particularly meaningful part of the film’s production.
Directed by David Ayer, “Heart of the Beast” follows Special Forces officer James Belmont and his combat dog Odin after a plane crash leaves them stranded in the Alaskan wilderness. Paramount Pictures describes the film as an adventure thriller centred on their fight for survival and their bond.
Uber portrays Odin and worked with animal trainer Andrew Simpson on the production. Producer Richard Raymond previously confirmed that the dog survives the film, addressing a question raised by viewers after promotional material was released.

“Heart of the Beast,” which also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, is scheduled to open in US theatres on September 25, 2026, through Paramount Pictures.
