Armed robbers stormed into a private bank in Saddar area of the metropolis, held security guards and staff hostage at gunpoint before walking off with $38,000 and Rs2.5 million cash early morning today.
Police soon arrived at the crime scene and launched investigation into the incident. Bank’s three security guards have also been taken into custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile two people lost their lives and three got injured in shooting incidents in different areas. A person was shot dead in Faqir Colony area of Orangi Town. The deceased could not be identified yet.
Another victim Akhter Manzoor’s body was recovered from Federal B Area’s Block 16. Akhter owned a catering service and had been kidnapped. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of 5 million, police said.
Meanwhile, three people got injured in separate firing incidents in NIPA Chowrangi, Federal B and North Nazimabad areas.
A dead body has also been recovered from the sea near Keemari area.
