Narowal, Punjab: A newly-married woman was allegedly strangled by her husband, and her body was set on fire in a Narowal woman killed case, police said.
Saddar Narowal Police Station registered a first information report on the complaint of Ali Raza, brother of the victim, Nida Shaheen.
Ali Raza told police that Nida Shaheen had married Hammad Sohail, a resident of Ghaziwal, three months ago. He alleged that Hammad tortured Nida after marriage because he wanted to contract a second marriage.
According to the complaint, Hammad and his family members tortured Nida on June 19 and forced her out of the house. The complainant said Nida then moved in with her parents.

He said Hammad came to his in-laws on June 27, reconciled with Nida and took her back home. The complaint said another quarrel later took place at the house.
Ali Raza alleged that Hammad, his brother Bilal, father Sohail and mother Naseem tortured Nida before Hammad strangled her and set her body on fire. Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident.
The FIR was registered against Hammad, Bilal, Sohail and Naseem. Police shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital, Narowal, for post-mortem and further legal action.
