KARACHI, Sindh: A Karachi accountability court began reviving 15 NAB corruption references and summoned the accused after the Sindh High Court ordered the cases returned from anti-corruption courts.

The court initiated proceedings on a request from a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) had set aside an earlier decision transferring the references out of accountability courts and directed that they be returned to the NAB forum.

The accountability court subsequently issued notices to people named in the 15 references. The accusations have not been adjudicated.

Those summoned included Balochistan Provincial Minister Ali Hassan Brohi, who is named in cases concerning alleged illegal land allotments and corruption.

Notices were also issued to former Sindh chief secretary and Land Utilisation member Siddiq Memon, former Malir deputy commissioner Qazi Jan Muhammad and former district revenue officer Ijaz Hussain.

The court also called builders Javed Iqbal and Waseem Ahmed Sheikh, along with several serving or former revenue officials.
