Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain decided on Wednesday to suspend the Rabita committees in London and Karachi.
No concrete reason has been provided by the MQM chief or any party spokesperson yet as to why the decision has been made.
A large gathering of MQM workers has gathered at Nine Zero, waiting for their leader to address a press conference later today.
The move follows the killing of MQM district vice president Bao Muhammad Anwar last last night on Tuesday in Sialkot by three unidentified men on motorcycles.
Further, Rangers also conducted a raid on Tuesday in which nine people were arrested, all of whom included target killers and extortionists affiliated with MQM, according to a Rangers spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif contacted Sindh Governer Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday to condemn the killing of the MQM worker in the Sialkot.
