KARACHI: The Mir Raza Ali autopsy found that the 25-year-old businessman died from a single chest gunshot and showed no burn injuries, contradicting initial reports, police said Saturday.
Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the gunshot caused extensive bleeding and haemorrhagic shock. The examination found decomposition but no evidence that anyone had burned the body.
Ali’s body was found in the bushes near Shahi Qila Ground in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar on July 29. He had left his PECHS home in an online taxi at 4:09 a.m. on July 28.
The taxi driver told police that he dropped Ali near his commercial kitchen in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Investigators are checking the account against mobile-phone data and CCTV footage.

Police recovered Ali’s password-protected iPhone about 200 metres from the body, near Naseer Tower apartments. They also found an empty pistol holster at the crime scene, according to The Express Tribune.
Investigators have obtained Ali’s call-detail records and are examining more than 50 linked telephone numbers. Police are also reviewing reports that his social-media accounts were deactivated one day before his body was discovered.

Police said they had expanded the investigation after receiving the forensic findings. No suspect was identified in the reports reviewed.
Ali was an Institute of Business Administration graduate and had operated his own business for about five years.
