KARACHI: Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali, 25, was found shot dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Wednesday, July 29, one day after he left his PECHS home and was reported missing.
Police recovered his body from bushes near Shahi Qila Ground in Block and transferred it to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said Ali suffered a single penetrating gunshot wound to the chest.
Police had registered a kidnapping case at Ferozabad Police Station on Tuesday following a complaint from Ali’s father, Mir Hassan Ali.
The first information report said Ali returned from his shop during the night between July 27 and 28. He told his mother at about 4 a.m. that he was stepping outside for 10 minutes but did not return.
East Senior Superintendent of Police Zubair Nazir Shaikh later said investigators did not consider the case a kidnapping. He said Ali had booked an online taxi whose driver dropped him near the location where police found his body.
Police traced the driver and were questioning him. Investigators were also collecting footage from cameras near the recovery site.

Station House Officer Kamran Qureshi said preliminary findings suggested that Ali had suffered torture before the shooting. Police also found burn marks on parts of the body, which initially made identification difficult.
Ali lived in PECHS Block 2 and operated the Wafflix dessert business near Bahadurabad Chowrangi.
