On the night of April 12-13, 2025, a boat carrying migrants capsized off the eastern coast of Libya, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 people.

The vessel was en route from Libya to Greece, carrying individuals seeking a better life in Europe. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of the 11 victims, including four Pakistani nationals.

The Pakistani victims were Sameer Ali, Asif Ali, and Syed Ali from Mandi Bahauddin, along with Zahid Mahmood from Gujranwala.

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) acted swiftly by arresting Adil, a key figure involved in the incident. According to an FIA spokesperson, Adil was part of an international human trafficking network. He allegedly collected and transferred money from citizens to finance these illegal operations.
