The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered immediate release of Gullu Butt, the notorious character of Model Town incident, on Friday.
While a case today, Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan, one of the judges of the LHC, declared illegal all orders of Gullu Butt’s detention.
He observed that proofs against the accused be produced in the court, if there are any.
On September 19, Butt pleaded not guilty to charges of vandalizing cars during June violence in Lahore.
He was granted bail last month for security bonds of Rs 2 lacs, but was rearrested by police. Butt is being tried under the charges of terrorism in a local anti-terrorism court (ATC).
He was caught on TV cameras when smashing window panes of cars on the day when Model Town incident occurred.
