The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has contacted international airlines to resume flight operations in the provincial capital. The KP government has assured international airlines of providing security.

Major international airlines have canceled their flights to and from Peshawar following an attack on a Pakistan International Airlines flight arriving from Riyadh at Bacha Khan International Airport. Terrorists opened fire on the airplane while it was landing resulting in the death of a passenger.

Following the attack, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad and Saudi Arabia Airlines have suspended flight operations to the city.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are taking measures to secure areas surrounding the airport.
