Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has directed constitution of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into Sunday’s Wagah border blast that claimed almost 60 lives.
Sources said a preliminary report of the incident has been presented to Chief Minister who has also directed authorities to further beef up security for Ashura processions and majalis.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against unidentified persons for plotting and carrying out the deadly suicide blast that killed at least 59 people.
The explosion, which wounded more than 120, came at Wagah border gate near Lahore after the “flag-lowering” ceremony, a display of military pageantry that attracts thousands of spectators every day and is popular with foreign tourists.
