A Jang Group van delivering copies of the Daily Jang and The News was attacked here on Monday.
Unknown attackers in a car and on a motorcycle hurled a petrol bomb on the van which was delivering newspapers of the Jang Group. The van had left from Davis Road to the Paper Market at 5 AM when the attackers tried to stop it at Abbott Road. The driver of the van sped away but was stopped by the attackers at the PTO station where a petrol bomb was used to set fire to the van. The driver managed to escape while fire fighters were able to control the blaze after thousands of newspapers were burnt.
Police officials said a team has been formed to investigate the attack and with the help of CCTV cameras the criminals will soon be caught.
