THARPARKAR: An ambulance fire killed eight people and injured five at a health facility in Dano Dandhal, Nagarparkar, Sindh, the district’s deputy commissioner said.
Police attributed the fire to an explosion involving a cylinder installed in the vehicle. The ambulance was parked at the facility when the incident occurred. However, rescue officials quoted by Geo News gave a lower death toll of seven.
The deputy commissioner said three injured people were taken to Tehsil Hospital Nagarparkar. Separately, the assistant commissioner said injured patients were transferred to Civil Hospital Mithi.
District administration officials, health emergency personnel and Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene. Authorities were still identifying those who died.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bowser exploded near the National Highway and motorway interchange in Sukkur. Two people died, while several others sustained injuries.
