ERBIL: Explosive-laden drones targeted Iranian Kurdish opposition groups in Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah and eastern Erbil on Wednesday, security sources said.
Komala, an Iranian Kurdish opposition group, said two Shahed drones struck its headquarters in the Balisan area, northeast of Erbil.
The group said the attack occurred around 8:45 am in the Alana Valley, about 90 kilometres from the city. “Despite material damage, this attack resulted in no casualties,” Komala said. Its fighters escaped unharmed.
Komala accused Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of carrying out the strike. However, the group provided no independently verified evidence identifying the attackers.

Separately, a security source reported an airstrike on a house in Tawella, Halabja province, shortly after 2:00 am. The source said the property suffered extensive damage but reported no casualties.
Iran has repeatedly attacked Iranian Kurdish opposition bases in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan Region. Tehran accuses the groups of launching attacks inside Iranian territory.
