Apple’s iPhone 17, set for a 2025 release, will feature a larger 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz LTPO OLED panel, according to a Weibo tipster, Digital Chat Station. This upgrade aligns the base model with the iPhone 16 Pro’s screen size and performance, marking a significant leap for non-Pro models. Consequently, the news has sparked excitement among tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting Apple’s next flagship.

The iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch display, which is the same size as the iPhone 16 Pro, marking a change from the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch screen. It also introduces a 120Hz LTPO OLED panel, a feature previously exclusive to Pro models, which enhances both smoothness and efficiency. All 2025 models, including the rumoured iPhone 17 Air, are expected to utilise Samsung’s M14 OLED technology, which was used in the iPhone 16 Pro, ensuring vibrant visuals across the lineup.

A recently deleted Amazon India listing for Spigen’s EZ Fit tempered glass confirmed compatibility with the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 17, and iPhone 17 Pro, indicating that all three models share a 6.3-inch display. This aligns with earlier leaks and increases anticipation for the devices. However, features such as the always-on display and adaptive refresh rates (ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz) are likely to remain exclusive to the Pro models. This upgrade effectively narrows the gap between Apple’s standard and premium offerings.

The display upgrade positions the iPhone 17 as a competitive option in the smartphone market. By adopting 120Hz technology, Apple responds to consumer demand for smoother scrolling and animations, previously a staple of Android flagships. The larger, high-performance screen could boost Apple’s appeal in 2025.

As Apple gears up for its September 2025 launch, the display enhancements of the iPhone 17 mark a significant advancement. The integration of Samsung’s OLED and 120Hz technology across all models could transform user expectations.
