A military helicopter was deployed to rescue eight stranded individuals, including six students, after a chairlift malfunctioned in Allai Tehsil, Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the chairlift halted around 900 ft above ground due to a cable failure. “Eight individuals, including six children, are stranded,” the NDMA’s official statement noted. The organization has facilitated coordination with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Mansehra’s Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tahir Ayub, corroborated the incident and emphasized the need for an aerial rescue. One of the stranded passengers, Gulfaraz, mentioned that the initial cable broke early in the morning, followed by a subsequent breakage.
Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Faisal Karim Kundi, has appealed to key officials, including caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and interim Chief Minister KP Muhammad Azam Khan, to intervene swiftly.
