The federal government earlier today denied that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave a six-month deadline to eradicate polio from the country.
A spokesman of the Prime Minister House said that during a high-level meeting of the Steering Committee for the Eradication of Polio at the PM Office yesterday the prime minister did not give any six-month deadline as reported in the national media.
Instead, the spokesman said, the prime minister ordered that during the November-April, which is considered as a lean period for polio, concerted efforts should be made to control and eradicate the disease.
