Discord down reports reached about 70,000 on Friday, May 8, 2026, as users reported app, messaging and login problems, according to Downdetector.
Downdetector logged the peak at 3:49 p.m., before complaints dropped to about 40,000 at around 4:11 p.m.
The outage affected users across several US cities, including New York, Miami, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.
Downdetector said 57% of users reported app issues, 25% reported messaging problems, and 13% reported login failures.
Discord acknowledged the disruption on X, first posting “Discord is down” before adding about an hour later that it was “Working on it.”
The company had not announced full service restoration or disclosed the cause of the outage.
Users responded to Discord’s posts with jokes and memes, while the company replied through its official X account during the disruption.
Discord serves as an online community platform for gaming, group chats, social communities and private conversations.
