Balochistan will become the first province to complete Local Bodies Elections (LBE) on Wednesday.
In today’s final round of the LBE , polling will be held for at least 1450 seats of mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen and vice-chairmen.
Senior leader and former provincial minister Dr Kaleemullah of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and Younus Lehri with PML-N’s backing are contesting for Quetta’s mayorship and deputy mayorship respectively.
Meantime, Watan Dost Panel and All Parties Democratic Alliance (APDA) are also vying for Quetta’s mayorship. APDA tapped Qazi Abdul Qahir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Nazaryati) for Quetta’s mayorship and Raza Wakeel of Hazara Democratic Party for deputy mayorship.
It should be mentioned here that Watan Dost Panel claimed to enjoy the support of at least 80 councillors. At the same time, APDA also claimed to hit the field with full preparations.
