Due to potential counterattacks from the military operation in North Waziristan, the Pakistan Army completed arrangements to counter potential terror threats around Karachi.
Several contingents of Pakistan Army from Malir Cantonment have been alerted and deployed on different places in the megapolis to act as quick response force. Army troops will remain on stand-by positions in tandem with the police and the rangers who will be the front line forces.
It is pertinent to note here that Pakistan Army contingents will not be deployed at any sensitive point in the metropolis; however, they will remain geared up to cope with any exigency, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR statement said the police and the rangers will have the security responsibilities at sensitive places and the army contingents will stay close at a distance from where they may rush to assist the law-enforcers under emergency circumstances.
