NEW YORK: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMD) saw its market cap cross $1 trillion for the first time Monday as shares surged to a record during a broader semiconductor rally.

AMD shares were up 9.6% at $613.50 during September 21 trading, according to Reuters, after reaching a record high and pushing the chipmaker’s valuation above the trillion-dollar threshold.

The milestone made AMD the fourth U.S. chipmaker to reach a $1 trillion valuation, after Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron. The stock has gained about 185% in 2026, compared with a 15.8% rise in the Nasdaq Composite, Reuters reported.

AMD’s market value stood near $255 billion about a year earlier, according to MarketWatch, highlighting the scale of the company’s revaluation as investors increased exposure to companies supplying artificial-intelligence infrastructure.

The company has expanded beyond individual processors and accelerators into integrated AI infrastructure. Its AMD Helios rack-scale platform combines Instinct MI455X GPUs, EPYC server CPUs, Pensando networking and ROCm software in a single AI system.

AMD has also benefited from demand for server CPUs used alongside graphics processors in AI inference workloads, helping it gain market share from Intel, Reuters reported.

Read: AMD Personal Supercomputer; Local AI Workstation; Instinct MI350P.

The $1 trillion level was an intraday milestone rather than a confirmed closing valuation at the time of publication, as AMD shares continued to trade around the threshold during Monday’s session.
