LOS ANGELES: Singer Taylor Swift will perform at the Academy Museum Gala on October 17, closing an evening honouring actors Charlize Theron and Colman Domingo and filmmaker-composer John Carpenter.
Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced the booking on Thursday; director and president Amy Homma welcomed Swift’s participation in the fundraising event.
Now in its sixth year, the gala raises money for the museum’s exhibitions, educational programmes and public screenings. Proceeds help keep those activities accessible to visitors of all ages.
Swift’s set remains under wraps. Organisers have announced no plans to televise or stream the evening. They have not named the songs she intends to perform.
“Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world,” Homma said.
She described the closing performance as part of an evening celebrating the honourees and supporting the museum’s work to preserve cinema.
Host committee members include Kirsten Dunst, Kate Hudson and Jessica Lange. Demi Moore, Rami Malek, Seth Rogen and Questlove are among the other participants named.

Swift previously performed at the Grammy Museum in August. She sang a mashup of “All Too Well”, “I Knew It, I Knew You” and “August”.
That appearance provides no confirmed indication of her upcoming set. Her Academy Museum booking follows a recent honour at the MTV Video Music Awards, which recognised her work as an artist and director.
Organisers had already announced Carpenter, Domingo and Theron as this year’s honourees before confirming Swift’s appearance.
