Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed that the ongoing military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ in North Waziristan will continue till its logical end.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Monday, the Prime Minister said a decisive action has been started to purge the country of terrorists.

He said the government sincerely gave peace a chance for four and a half month but its sincerity was not reciprocated and the government had to take the decision to launch the operation as a last resort.

“We did our best to make talks result-oriented,” he said, adding that “On one hand we were pursuing dialogue, and on the other we were being targeted. We were pursuing talks, but from Islamabad courts to Karachi airport we were attacked.”

The decision to launch military operation was taken with mutual agreement between civilian and military leadership following Karachi airport attack.

“We will not allow Pakistan to become safe heaven for terrorism at any cost.” the premier stated.

He said world knows that Pakistan paid heavy price in war against terrorism. Pakistan’s economy suffered $103 billion losses due to this menace.

PM Nawaz has expressed the hope that the operation will bring peace and stability to the country. He also urged tribal elders to support government to ensure peace and stability in the region.

According to army, 167 terrorists have been killed during precise ground and air attacks.

Earlier today, leaders of various religious and political parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Pakistan Peoples Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement expressed their support for the military operation.
