Former Pakistan captain Yousuf hails MohammadAmir after India’s defeat to South Africa in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, praising the former pacer’s recent analysis and calling the Proteas a formidable side.

India suffered a 76-run loss to South Africa in their first Super Eights clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The result dealt a significant blow to their campaign.

Mohammad Yousuf took to X to commend Mohammad Amir’s earlier comments about India’s batting. Amir had described India opener Abhishek Sharma as “just a slogger,” questioning his consistency.

Oye @iamamirofficial, you menace! You tormented #India on the field, and now you’re rattling them from the studio. Let them breathe, they’re already under fire. South Africa, the finalists, have picked up right where they left off last #T20WorldCup. A formidable side! Top order…

Sharma struggled in the tournament, registering three consecutive ducks before scoring 15 runs against South Africa. Amir had also predicted that South Africa and the West Indies would advance from Group 1 of the Super Eights.

Following India’s heavy defeat, Yousuf reacted in a cheeky tone. He wrote that Amir had tormented India on the field and was now rattling them from the studio. He urged him to “let them breathe,” suggesting India was already under pressure.

Meanwhile, Yousuf praised South Africa’s performance. He called them a “formidable” side and highlighted their balanced display. Although their top order faltered, the lower order delivered. In addition, their bowling discipline proved decisive.

Despite the setback, India remains mathematically in contention for the semi-finals. However, their net run rate dropped sharply. Consequently, they must secure dominant wins in their remaining matches against Zimbabwe andthe West Indies to stay in the race.

Amir’s analysis and Yousuf’s reaction have added another layer of intrigue to an already intense tournament
