Islamabad, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said, “Youm-e-Takbeer marks a defining moment in Pakistan’s history and reflects national unity, courage and resolve.”
In his May 28, 2026, message, Shehbaz said Pakistan’s 1998 nuclear tests restored the strategic balance in South Asia after India’s nuclear tests.
The prime minister said Pakistan would never compromise on its defence, freedom, dignity or sovereignty.
He paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, scientists, engineers, experts, members of the Armed Forces and workers linked to the nuclear programme.
Shehbaz said Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence remains a decisive barrier against hostile designs. He also praised the Armed Forces for their role during Maarka-e-Haq and said Pakistan had no aggressive intent.
