Azam Khan, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper and batter, showed frustration after a fan encounter following a disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup match against the United States.
During the event at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday, Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat to the hosts in their opening match.
Azam faced Nosthush Kenjige and was dismissed on the first ball after Shadab Khan’s departure. A video capturing Azam’s reaction has gone viral. In it, he appears visibly upset while walking to the pavilion.
Criticism has intensified against Azam Khan, with numerous fans suggesting he should not be in the national team due to his ongoing struggles.
Pakistan had set a target of 160 runs. Early in the game, USA bowlers dismissed top-order Pakistani batsmen Mohammad Rizwan, Usman Khan, and Fakhar Zaman — for just 26 runs.
Despite the early setbacks, Captain Babar Azam and Shadab Khan cautiously built a partnership, momentarily reviving Pakistan’s innings.
Their 72-run stand brought Pakistan back into contention before Shadab was out after making 40 runs from 25 balls.
Following Shadab’s exit, Azam was dismissed for a golden duck, and Pakistan’s wickets continued to fall.
Babar Azam contributed 44 runs from 43 balls, while Iftikhar Ahmed added 18 runs. Shaheen Afridi later scored 23 off 16 balls, which was crucial in pushing Pakistan to a final score of 159-7.
