A woman in Thailand suffered a devastating injury at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, resulting in the loss of part of her leg.
As reported by TMZ, the incident occurred on Thursday morning when the 57-year-old Thai woman’s foot became trapped in a moving walkway in Terminal 2. She was attempting to catch a 9:45 AM flight when the accident happened, leading to a grisly injury that left onlookers horrified. Bystanders quickly acted to hit the emergency off switch, but her leg was severely mangled in the process.
Photos from the scene show the woman’s foot caught beneath the belt at the end of the walkway. A medical team responding to the emergency had to perform an amputation above the knee to free her. Following the amputation, the Associated Press reports that the woman is seeking medical treatment to have her leg reattached. She has been transferred to two different hospitals to receive the necessary care.
Airport officials have acknowledged the incident’s severity and committed to covering the woman’s medical expenses. There is also the possibility of the victim receiving additional compensation. This tragic event has raised concerns about airport safety measures and the urgent need for effective emergency response protocols.
