Health officials in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said seven people were hurt in a terrorist attack early in the morning. Those injured included a Station House Officer (SHO) and three policemen. The attack started around 5:15 AM, when militants blew up a vehicle full of explosives near the Federal Constabulary (FC) Line. Then, they fired many shots.

A spokesperson from the Medical Teaching Institute (MTI) stated that all injured individuals received prompt treatment in the emergency room. Then, they were moved towards more care. The spokesperson said, “All patients are stable, and expert doctors and nurses are giving full treatment.”

Security officials said they stopped the attack and killed three militants during a joint operation. People nearby heard a loud explosion and gunfire close to the FC Line. Videos on social media showed the fight’s intensity, and pieces from the exploded vehicle lay on Kohat Road, which was closed for a while.

Jabhatu Ansar al-Mahdi Khorasan (JAMK), a group linked to Hafiz Gul Bahadur, said they carried out the attack.

Two Policemen Killed in Lakki Marwat Attack

On the same day, two policemen, Constable Asad and Constable Samiullah, were killed in a different attack in Lakki Marwat. Militants from a banned group fired at the officers as they rode a motorcycle on Begokhel Road near Mela Shahabkhel.

The attackers ran away after the shooting. The police launched a major operation involving numerous officers to apprehend the attackers. The death of these two officers has raised worries about growing militant activity in the area.
