KANSAS CITY: Taylor Swift football talk with Tom Cruise became a sideline story after the Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 31-10 at Arrowhead Stadium on September 14.
Cruise said on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Thursday that Swift explained the game to him while they sat together in a suite.
“She was schooling me on football,” Cruise told Fallon. He added that Swift “knows her stuff” after becoming a regular presence at Kansas City games.
The actor said their conversation also covered music and movies. Cruise, who is promoting his film “Digger,” said he had not attended an NFL game since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Swift attended the opener to support her husband, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. She and Cruise were seen talking during the first quarter alongside other guests.

The Chiefs opened their 2026 NFL season with a 31-10 victory over the Broncos. Patrick Mahomes returned after the knee injuries that ended his 2025 season, while Kelce finished with three catches for 71 yards.

The game also featured a 59-yard reception by Kelce, his longest catch of the night. Kansas City moved to 1-0 with the victory.
Cruise praised Swift’s football knowledge during the interview and also highlighted her work as a songwriter, musician and director.

The Taylor Swift football talk came during her first Chiefs appearance of the season. She has attended Kansas City games regularly since first watching Kelce play at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2023.
