ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court judges’ salary increase raised monthly basic pay to Rs1.55 million for the chief justice and Rs1.5 million for other judges, with effect from December 10, 2025.

President Asif Ali Zardari approved the package on the federal government’s recommendation to align Supreme Court pay and benefits with those of Federal Constitutional Court judges

The basic salary of other Supreme Court judges was previously above Rs1.1 million, making the monthly increase approximately Rs400,000.

The package also raised each judge’s monthly judicial allowance from Rs1,161,163 to Rs1.5 million, an increase of Rs338,837. A monthly medical allowance of Rs150,000 was approved separately.

Because the changes apply retrospectively, eligible judges will receive arrears covering the period from December 10, 2025.

The approved measure is to be issued as the “Salary of the Judges of Supreme Court Order, 2026,” according to the government summary cited by the newspaper.

Amendments were also approved for provisions in the Supreme Court Judges (Leave, Pension and Privileges) Order, 1997.

The summary replaces one age threshold of 70 with 75 and another of 85 with 90. The final presidential order and its gazette publication will provide the controlling legal text.
