Rapper Soulja Boy has teased a possible run in the 2028 US presidential election. He outlined four priorities but has not formally announced a campaign or named a political party.
Posting on Instagram on Saturday, the 36-year-old identified economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and technology and artificial intelligence as his areas of interest.
His message focused on creating opportunities for the next generation.
“Now I’m exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service,” he wrote.
Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, presented the idea as a possible new direction for his career. He described his work across music, business and technology as the starting point for exploring public service.
In the accompanying photograph, he posed in front of a large American flag. His caption included the hashtags #SouljaBoy2028, #America2028 and #TheFuture.
He framed the message as the beginning of a conversation about that potential move. It stopped short of formally declaring that he would contest the election.
Several fans welcomed the suggestion in comments beneath the post. One pledged a vote for the rapper, while others expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of him entering politics.

Known for his hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy)”, Soulja Boy has previously faced criticism over an appearance linked to US politics.
In 2025, he performed at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s inauguration festivities. That performance drew a backlash.
