SMEs urge govt. to reduce tax rates

The Small and Medium Enterprises Alliance (Samea) has urged the government to relax regulations, reduce tax rate and increase the threshold of number of employees for registration with Employees’ Old Age Benefit Institute (EOBI) for small and medium enterprises.

The SMEs which contribute up to 38 per cent towards the gross domestic product (GDP) need special attention so that they could really work as the backbone of the economy, like other countries of the world.
