KARACHI, Sindh: A Sindh rain alert is in effect from September 13 to 16, with thunderstorms, strong winds and isolated heavy falls forecast in several districts and light rain possible in Karachi.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said a monsoon low that developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast was moving westward and would influence weather across parts of Sindh.
Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan may receive dust-thunderstorms with a few moderate to isolated heavy falls from Sunday evening through September 16, according to the PMD.
Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast for Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro between September 14 and 16, with intermittent gaps.
For Karachi Division, the Met Office forecast thunderstorms and light rain from September 14 to 16 rather than continuous rainfall.

Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser on Rehabilitation Giyanchand Essrani directed deputy commissioners and relevant departments to keep staff and machinery ready. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Sindh Emergency Rescue Service 1122 were also instructed to remain on high alert.
