The Sindh High Court (SHC) gas granted 45 days to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) file a reference after completing its inquiry into unlawful allotment of 12,000 acre land by Bahria Town Karachi.

On today’s hearing NAB Prosecutor General Waqas Qadeer Dar informed the bench that the inquiry has almost completed but at least four more months are required for file of a reference.

“We need more time to complete assessment of at least 9000 Dehs and acquire record from different departments,” the Prosecutor General said.

Dar said that a Google Earth Map of the allotted land has also been prepared on court’s directives.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim said further time could not be granted. He directed the NAB to complete inquiry as soon as possible.

“NAB harasses people for years under the pretext of inquiries. You should complete the task in the given time and submit your report,” Justice Amir Hani Muslim said.

The court, after hearing the Prosecutor General, granted 45 more days to NAB to file a reference against Bahria Town.

About transfer of the case to Islamabad, the bench sent the matter to Chief Justice of Pakistan.

In the previous hearing, the court was told that Bahria Town Karachi collected billions of rupees from people before purchasing the land.

In a report, the NAB said Bahria Town did not own even a single acre of land at the time of the project’s formal launch. It stated that Bahria Town charged Rs15, 000 from each applicant through deception
