Singer and actor Selena Gomez says she has quit vaping nicotine after the habit changed her voice. The Rare Beauty founder, 34, discussed her experience in an Instagram Story video on Sunday.
She described frequent nicotine use and urged fans against starting. “Nicotine is so hard to quit,” Gomez said. Although she expressed relief at stopping,
she acknowledged the difficulty of staying nicotine-free. She hoped to maintain her progress and encouraged others facing similar struggles.
Gomez also addressed listeners who commented on her voice, saying she understood if they preferred to stop listening.
Before this disclosure, she had answered questions about her voice during an Instagram Live session in December 2025. At that time, she described occasional swelling inside her throat without mentioning vaping.
