The Supreme Court has upheld the Election Tribunal (ET) verdict and subsequently ordered re-election in National Assembly constituency NA-153 Multan.

Three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, dismissed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Devan Ashiq Bukhari plea against the decision of Election Tribunal.

Devan Ashiq was elected MNA on PML-N ticket and had secured more than 90,000 votes in general elections 2013.

Election Tribunal had declared elections void and ordered re-polling in the constituency on the plea filed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Rana Qasim, who had alleged that his opponent posses fake degree and had hidden assets.

Devan Bukhari had moved SC against the ET verdict.
