ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority raised RLNG distribution prices by up to 34.62% for July 2026 after Pakistan LNG Limited purchased five spot-market cargoes.

OGRA calculated the new rates based on the actual costs of the five cargoes. The prices took effect from July 1, according to the regulator’s notification.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited consumers will pay $25.8388 per million British thermal units. The rate increased by $6.316, or 32.35%, from $19.5228 in June.

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited customers will pay $25.0872 per MMBtu. The distribution rate rose by $6.4512, or 34.62%, from $18.6360.

OGRA also raised SSGCL’s transmission rate by 35.78% to $22.2251 per MMBtu. SNGPL’s transmission rate increased by 32.12% to $23.7020.

State-owned Pakistan LNG Limited bought all five cargoes from the international spot market. Pakistan State Oil imported no Qatari cargoes during July.

PSO normally imports Qatari LNG under two long-term, crude-linked agreements. Disruption to Qatari supplies following Middle East hostilities pushed Pakistan towards more expensive spot purchases.

The five approved cargo prices ranged from $16.7372 to $21.8800 per MMBtu. The July volume was the third-lowest monthly procurement since Pakistan began importing LNG, The Nation reported.

The newspaper said Pakistan’s RLNG prices had increased by more than 144% since Middle East hostilities disrupted regional supplies. It said the latest increase would also raise fuel costs for RLNG-based power plants.
