Rehan Ahmed’s body recovered in Karachi is the latest development in a case that began with the disappearance of a 52-year-old businessman earlier this month. Police said the body was found in a residential flat at Chapel Garden on Abul Hassan Isphani Road during an ongoing murder investigation.
According to Joharabad Police Station in Central Karachi, the recovery was made based on information provided by a suspect already arrested, identified as Syed Faisal Akram. Investigators said the victim had been missing since April 11.
The FIR states that Rehan Ahmed left his home in the Federal B Area in his car for his office around Maghrib time but never returned. Police now believe he was kidnapped before being murdered.
Authorities said the apartment where the body was recovered reportedly belongs to a suspect named Mujeeb, who is alleged to have links with the militant wing of a political party. However, investigators suspect the killing may have taken place at another location before the body was moved and hidden inside the flat.
Police Investigation Expands After Body Recovery
Police said the recovered body appeared to be several days old. Crime scene officials are collecting evidence, while the body has been shifted to a hospital for standard medico-legal formalities.
Operation and investigation teams are working jointly on the case as they try to piece together the timeline of the abduction and killing. So far, investigators are focusing on the role of the arrested suspect and the location where the murder may have actually occurred.
Rehan Ahmed, was a resident of Water Pump in Federal B Area and ran a business supplying laboratory machinery. The case has added to public concern over violent crime and missing persons incidents in Karachi.
